Optimization of 2D Steel Truss by Excel STAAD VBA Interface
This paper is used to carry out to the optimization of truss structures for finding optimal cross sectional size and configuration of 2-D A-type and N-type trusses to achieve minimum weight. Function evaluation is done at various grid points by Microsoft Excel STAAD PRO V8i VBA interface. For geometry variation truss heights is in outer loop, number of bays is in inner loop. It generates basic information for geometry like node number, node coordinate, member number, member incidence. Create separate property, support condition, member specification, and steel design command. Microsoft Excel creates a separate STAAD PRO V8i file for and passes particular information related to geometry required for analysis and design. The analysis and design process is carried out for N and A type truss. The graphic user interface is done in this project to optimize both N and A type truss.
