Statistical Review and Control System Design for Photo Bioreactor Based Production of Algae Biofuels in India
Abstract
In a growing country with rapid urbanization and industrialization, there will be an ever increasing demand for transport and mobility that has further caused an immense increase in the demand for petroleum based fuel. Worldwide, the search for an alternative to petroleum based fuels has also increased and there have been several breakthroughs. In this scenario; Algal biofuels are poised to become a sustainable source of biofuels that could potentially replace petroleum based fuels in an environmentally friendly and sustainable world. In many parts of the developing world, algal biofuels will prevail over the first generation biofuels, which demand prime land as well as other water and nutrient resources currently used for providing food security. If placed near a thermal power station, algal production can be aided with continuous carbon dioxide supply and in return produce fuel for the power plant, thus reducing its dependence on fossil fuels, and also reducing the carbon footprint. This paper brings out the possible scope and opportunities to produce algal biofuels in photobioreactors for a sustainable and feasible fuel source in India
