Effect of Different Mechanical and Chemical Properties on Coconut Fiber Reinforced Polyester Composites
Abstract
The request for new and useful material is going on from times immemorial. The twentieth century has seen the evolution of many such materials Composite are the 21st century material to meet the stringent demands of light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance near-net shapes and eco-friendly, In the year 1950, the concept of fiber-reinforced plastics has been introduced in order to develop high strength to weight ratio materials. Fiber reinforced plastics have replaced steel in chemical, marine & transport industries. Fiber reinforced plastics have gained recognition as structural material. The largest user of FRP is the aerospace industry wherein the union of opposite’s i.e. highest strength and maximum lightness with eco-friendly in nature is a prime requirement. FRP industry has blossomed considerable in the past two decades. In our project work we have chosen polyester resin as the matrix and coconut fibers are chosen as reinforcement. It is proposed to study mechanical and chemical properties like impact strength, flexural strength, and chemical resistance properties at different percentage weight fraction of natural (coconut) fiber
