Gone are the days when Indian woman was considered as a stereotyped household. Today she together with her daughter, wife mother’s roles and responsibilities, is managing her professional acumen well. Now she is stepping out of the family for walls and writing new scripts of success not only in India but also across the borders. This empowerment can be done through the self help groups. Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP), Training of Rural Youth for Self - employment (TRYSEM) and Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) have been initiated by the Government for the development of women self help groups. The Participation of women in Self Help Groups (SHGs) made a significant impact on their empowerment both in social and economical aspects. The information required for the study has been collected from both the primary and secondary sources. While doing joint venture the Self Help Groups are facing many issues like, lack of knowledge, raw materials, Machines, and equipments, Issues in getting and repaying the loan to bank, repayment of the loan in general, Sustainability, and lack of awareness for Marketing their products etc., This study is focused on Various Issues faced by the Self Help Groups in Coimbatote District.
