Optimization of a Quad Rotor Aircraft for a Stable Flight
Abstract
A quad copter is multi-rotor copter with four arms, each of which has a motor and a propeller at their ends. Quad copters do not require mechanical linkages to vary the rotor blade pitch angle as they spin, which simplifies the design and maintenance of the aircraft. The use of four rotors allows each individual rotor to have a smaller diameter than the equivalent helicopter rotor, allowing them to possess less kinetic energy during flight. This reduces the damage caused, should the rotors hit anything. Hence an attempt is made to study the flight parameters and also to perform various experiments on the quadcopter in order to ascertain the effect of these experiments on quadcopter and how it alters the performance characteristics such as stability in flight, load carrying capacity, power consumption, battery life etc. Thus, the effects which enhance the performance characteristics of a quadcopter for its stability are the end results of the paper
